Verizon Samsung Fascinate Unboxing

September 4, 2010 Tony Leave a comment

The crew over at Droid Life has recently posted an unboxing of the Verizon Samsung Fascinate which will be avilable in-store on 9/9/10. This looks like a great offering from Big Red. Looks like it’ll go for $199 on a 2-year contract. Looks like the RAM on this bad boy weighs in at 336mb. Droid X brings 512mb of RAM to the table. By the way…I’m still waiting for my X to ship that I ordered on 8/24. Patience grasshoppa, right? Lol!

So, who’s grabbing this when it comes to Verizon? Anybody pre-ordered via Best Buy? Give us a shoutout in the comments if you’re “jonesin’” for this Android device. AMOLED screen is nice, eh? Below is the unboxing from the Droid Life folks.

Here is the iTunes link for the application. The user interface is supposed to be one-of-kind.

Galaxy Tab Now Official On Samsung

September 2, 2010 Tony Leave a comment

Well, look what we have here! Looks like we have some official specs on the Samsung Galaxy Tab.

The Galaxy Tab will pack a 1 GHz Cortex A8 processor, HSUPA 5.76 Mbps / HSDPA 7.2 Mbps radio (900, 1900, 2100 MHz), quad-band GSM, 7-inch WSVGA screen with multitouch, Android 2.2, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, GPS, DLNA, Flash 10.1, 4,000 mAh battery, 3 megapixel rear-facing camera with flash, 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera, full HD video playback at 1080p, microSD card slot with support for up to a 32 GB card, and the unit will weigh 380 grams (13.4 ounces). The specs of the camera do seem a little downgraded compared to the rest of the details on the device but overall it’s looking quite sharp. Could this give the iPad some competition? I sure hope so! Competition is good, right?

The Samsung GALAXY Tab will be launched in Europe in mid September, and in other markets including Korea, the US and Asia in coming months. No word on the pricing as of yet.

You all excited for this device? I know I’d like to get my grubby little mitts on it. Lol! Give us a shout in the comments on your reaction to the release.

T-Mobile announces faster speeds coming in 2011; expands HSPA+ network

August 31, 2010 Kelly Leave a comment

image

T-Mobile just sent out a press release via email announcing their plans of expanding their HSPA+ network AND about some faster speeds coming in 2011 for their customers. The expansion will reach 100 million Americans in more than 55 major markets. Here are the locations where the HSPA+ network is currently available:

* Boston, Mass
* Erie, Penn
* Fresno, Calif
* Palm Springs, Calif
* San Diego, Calif
* Miami, Fla
* Richmond, Va
* Spokane, Wash
* Topeka, Kan

What’s more, the HSPA+ network is whats called "backward compatible" with more than 15 current devices, which means that customers who have those devices can now experience faster speeds on them immediately, at no additional charge.

What are their plans for 2011? Well they’re currently offering 4G speeds at theoretically 21 Mbps, TMO wants to amp that up to 42 Mbps in 2011.

We should be able to count on the expansion to move more aggressively in the coming months. TMO means business, that’s for sure!

For more information on this subject, head on over here: http://t-mobile-coverage.t-mobile.com/coverage

Once I see an official press release come out, I’ll link it up here.

Twitter Clients For Blackberry – Finally Some Quality Options

August 31, 2010 Tony Leave a comment

Hey folks…just thought I’d throw out the fact that I’m pretty darn happy with the choices of Twitter clients for Blackberry owners out there. SocialScope just dropped version .129 in our laps (unless you’ve not received an invite) with features full Facebook integration. UberTwiter is another great, full-featured Twitter app for Blackberry which I use and the developers are super-quick to address problems and push updates out to the masses. The native Twitter for Blackberry (T4BB) is also a great choice. Even Seesmic for Blackberry has stepped up their game to push out a new update to address bug fixes and it does refresh faster and provide a more pleasant user interface. Tweetissimo for Blackberry from The Blackberry Zone and BritishTurbo (Twitter username) goes without saying. Push notifications have been a godsend for me. It’s great to see mentions and direct messages pushed directly to your Blackberry device for quick retrieval and response.

I know a lot of you are eagerly awaiting the upcoming Blackberry Twitter client, Blaq. I have a serious jonesin’ going on for this product. I guess patience is a virtue, eh? You can obtain an overview of this full-featured app here.

So, which of these (or any other) is your “go-to” Twitter client for your Blackberry? Do you run more than 1 of the apps at one time on your Blackberry? I know I do! Give us a shoutout in the comments on which of these you use, your fav or favs and your views on the recent improvements and/or introductions of these apps.

Variety is the spice of life, right?

Thanks

August 30, 2010 Tony Leave a comment

You know what? Excellence and variety are 2 of the words that come to mind when I think of Blackberry themes from HedoneDesign. The latest theme from the crew, Skeper, is no exception.

DESCRIPTION: Skeper is for all of You who search amusing, funny, different and in the same time functional. It will entertain You with something new and funny every time You look at Your Blackberry Smartphone.

Let’s have a look-see at this great theme that I’ve just downloaded. Thanks to HedoneDesign for allowing me to review this blockbuster theme.

Take a look at my homescreen above. Pretty darn cool, eh? You can see the smiley face symbol for the battery meter to let you know that you have a good charge. The blue signal is awesome and eye-catching as well. You’ll notice the little “this one” symbol below my Messages icon. This is the indicator to let you know what app/icon you’re pointed towards, which is another great addition from the HedoneDesign crew. The theme kinda makes ya feel young at heart, eh? This theme supplies the eye candy plus functionality as you would expect.

Above is a screenie of my incoming Messages and this truly provides a nice, simple and easy-to-read overview. Did I mention there is absolutely no lag to this theme? Trust me…NO LAG HERE!!!

Above is another capture of my Applications page where you see that all basic icons on your Blackberry are fully-skinned.
I could go on and on about this theme but you just need to give it a shot and experience some Skeper goodness for yourselves.

Below is a video of the theme in action:

You can read more about the theme here. It’s available for a wide variety of BB devices for $6.99 at this link.

Grab this theme asap and experience a whole new spin on your Blackberry! Let us know how you like in the comments.

Promo Video For Upcoming Samsung Fascinate On Verizon

August 30, 2010 Tony Leave a comment

Anyone on Verizon “jonesin’” for the upcoming Samsung Fascinate? Here’s a little promo video to wet your smartphone whistles. Looks like this bad boy will be dropping officially on Verizon on 9/8/10 or 9/9/10. Best Buy is already offering pre-orders for the device.

Anyone gonna grab the Fascinate or have you already pre-ordered? Looks like a great device on this end even though it looks eerily similar in icons to the iPhone 4.

Let us know in the comments if you’re grabbing this device with its Super AMOLED screen, Android goodness, etc.
